What does fashion mean to you? Whatever your answer may be, you are probably thinking about the items of clothing and accessories you cover your body with. Maybe you want to look good for a date, impress a client… or go to Comic Con and show the world how much you love Iron Man. Fashion can be used for many different purposes, but it’s all physical, tangible right?
Not so fast.
The recent history of technology has been a race toward digitization. Now the world of pixels is coming for fashion as well, lead in part by no other than EO Netherlands member Adriana Pereira . Originally from Brazil, Adriana began her career working for various corporations before following her ambition and setting out on her own as an entrepreneur. The result? The Fabricant , a digital fasion house that uses blockchain technology to clothe your metaverse avatar in the finest haut couture.
The concept of digital clothing may sound foreign to most of us now, but, as Adriana points out, she never expected video cassettes and DVDs to become obsolete either. Sure, physical fashion will remain, but she sees the potential for digital fashion to capture at least 30% of an industry that is a currently a major source of environmental pollution and waste.
It may come as a surprise, but The Fabricant is growing much more rapidly than she and her partners anticipated, giving Adriana confidence that the digital future of fashion is close at hand.
