Jose, a member of EO Madrid, is openly gay and an advocate for gay rights in a conservative industry and what used to be a very conservative culture. But he, Portugal, Spain and the real estate business have all come a long way since he decided to become an entrepreneur and began teaching at universities.
Originally, he was inspired to start his real estate advisory firm Aura REE when he recognized a high degree of mismanagement and mediocre leadership as an employee at companies earlier in his life. Since then, he has turned his business into a success, partly by abandoning traditional concepts of marketing and launching an independent real estate news site to provide real value and build trust in his expertise.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Jose has adopted two daughters from Brazil and splits his time between Portugal and Madrid.
