Being the boss is both a blessing, and a curse. In the beginning, it’s fun and exciting, but as your company grows, so do your responsibilities, to the point where they may feel more like a prison than an opportunity. You’ve maintained centralized control so you get to make the important decisions, but at what cost? For Haluk Can Hur, it was clear that this state of affairs couldn’t go on.
The answer he found in a life-changing book was self management, an organizational principle that eliminates a company’s power hierarchy in favor of turning all of its employees into entrepreneurs in full control of their own projects. Many entrepreneurs remain skeptical of this approach, but the results speak for themselves: Haluk’s turnover double and his profits tripled after transitioning to the self management model.
Taking this leap was a risk for Haluk, but he’s all to happy to stick his neck out and do something exciting because, fail or succeed, it’s all about the journey.
Haluk began his journey as a chemical engineering student and moved on to land a lucrative job – one he would eventually leave to take more risks and become an entrepreneur. Today, he runs four companies: Huudle.io, Kromavis, Latro Technology and Latro Kimya. Having freed himself from the shackles of hierarchical entrepreneurship, he also finds time to serve as EO Europe Area Director.
