Faroboats, a company led by CEO and EO Portugal member Nuno Amaral Frazão, won first place in the 2022 Gussies Electric Boat Awards for their leap forward in sustainable boating with a 1920s-inspired small-craft leisure boat that recharges in under 2 hours for an 8 to 10 hour ride.
“We could not ask for anything more, or anything better. This means we are currently producing the best 5-meter electric boat in the world, and that’s even before we talk about its solar-powered charging dock,” said Frazão.
The Gussies, powered by Plugboats.com, are the only international boating awards exclusively dedicated to electric boats. Faroboats’ ‘Faro5 Wood’ was recognized by the global audience of almost 15,000 boat enthusiasts and an international judging panel of 19 e-boat experts as Best-in-Class in the under 8m category. Over 100 boats from 21 countries were evaluated.
Faroboats are the makers of the first fully self-sustainable solution for luxury leisure boating in the world. The Faro5 is combined with a solar-powered docking station and can be delivered with different engine packages so that license-free models are available in most countries.
The Faro5 and Solar Charging Dock were both designed by Tomás Costa Lima, Faroboats Naval Designer and Head of R&D. They have garnered accolades at the Cannes, Monaco, and Dubai Yachting Shows in 2021 and 2022, have established dealerships in Benelux, Denmark, Germany, France, North EUA and Australia and currently sell directly to all other Regions worldwide although they are still accepting distributors in other Regions.
Frazão served as a board member in EO Portugal from 2017 to 2022 and is also the owner and co-founder of Mindsetters, a B-to-B consultancy company.
