EO Madrid Vice President René de Jong was recently named “Best European angel of the year” at the 2023 EBAN Annual Congress in Thessaloniki, where several individuals were recognized for their exceptional achievements and contributions to the angel investment ecosystem.
De Jong is an angel investor with 20+ years of experience and was presented the prestigious award alongside winners for “Best new EBAN member” and “Best performing member”, as well as a special recognition award. De Jong is also vice president at AEBAN – Asociación Española Business Angels Networks.
European Business Angels Network (EBAN) represents the entire European community of early stage investors, with over 100 member organizations in more than 50 countries. Founded in 1999 by a group of pioneer angel networks in Europe with the collaboration of the European Commission and EURADA, EBAN represents a sector estimated to invest 11.4 billion Euros a year and playing a vital role in Europe’s future, notably in the funding of SMEs. EBAN fuels Europe’s growth through the creation of wealth and jobs.
The EBAN annual congress brings together hundreds of angel investors, industry leaders and entrepreneurs for workshops, keynote speeches and, of course, an award ceremony. The next congress is scheduled to take place in Tallinn, Estonia in 2024.
